WAIPAHU - The Hawai'i women's tennis team dropped its second consecutive match to a ranked opponent with a 6-1 setback to No. 65 Long Beach State, Sunday afternoon, at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fall to 5-5 on the year and all five of its losses have come against ranked teams.
The 49ers opened the team scoring by winning all three doubles contests and proceeded to capture five of the six singles matches. UH's Paige Mainor helped the Rainbow Wahine avoid the sweep by winning her match against Alanah Carroll at the No. 4 court, 4-6, 7-5, (10-5). Junior Lauren Fitzgerald pushed Nicole Boufler to three sets before falling, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.
The Rainbow Wahine return to the court, March 8-10, with home matches against Saint Louis, Portland, and Tennessee, at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex.
