Tabion Shuts Down Loyola (Chicago), 9-3

SAN DIEGO - Hawai`i defeated Loyola (Chicago) this morning 9-3, in the second day of the Campbell/Cartier Classic at San Diego State.

UH right-handed pitcher Shannon Tabion (5-1) struckout five and walked one in the going the distance.

She and the Rainbow Wahine got a 14-hit attack, highlighted by 7-run second inning to put the game away early. UH also got big games at the plate from April Crowell (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Ashley Ruff (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI), Stacey Ritter (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI), Tyleen Tausaga (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and Noelle Izumie (3-for-4, 2 runs).

Hawai`i improved to 7-9 on the season and 2-1 in the tournament while Loyola (Chicago) fell to 0-3 overall and in the tourney.

UH takes on host San Diego State later today.
