Aztecs Knock Off UH, 8-4

SAN DIEGO - Hawai`i committed four costly errors and San Diego State collected 13 hits in an 8-4 victory over the Rainbow Wahine tonight in the final game of the day for UH in the second day of the Campbell/Cartier Classic at SDSU.

UH's Melissa Coogan (2-6) suffered the loss going all seven innings notching four strikeouts and one walk.

However, UH's porous defense committed four huge errors resulting in five unearned runs in the loss. Hawai`i now falls to 7-10 on the year and 2-2 in the Classic. SDSU improves to 9-6 overall.

SDSU scored early and often holding a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning before UH got its first run of the contest. In the fourth, April Crowell hit a one-out double, was pinch-ran for by Dena DePompa, who scored on Tyleen Tausaga's RBI single to right.

After SDSU tacked on one more run in the sixth, UH closed the gap to 6-4 with a 3-run sixth highlighted by 2-run single by Stacey Ritter.

Hawai`i finished up the Classic Sunday taking on No. 5 Washington.
