SAN DIEGO - Hawai`i got a strong pitching performance from Shannon Tabion and some timely hitting to knock off Ohio University, 3-1, this afternoon at the Campbell/Cartier Classic at San Diego State.
Tabion (4-1) limited the Bobcat offense to five hits while striking out four and walking two. She got some big hits from Tracie Uchima and Tyleen Tausaga as the Rainbow Wahine snapped a three-game skid.
UH took a 3-0 lead with single runs in the first, third, and fourth innings. Uchima came home on an RBI single by Tausaga in the first, while both Tausaga and Uchima had solo home runs in the third and fourth, respectively. OU's Candy Warden (0-1) took the loss.
Ohio got its run in the sixth inning on a solo shot by Kiersten Scrima.
Hawai`i improves to 6-9 on the year and 1-1 in the Classic. Ohio falls to 0-2 in both. UH takes on Loyola (Chicago) and San Diego State in Classic action on Saturday.
