Rebels Edge UH, 1-0

Box Score

LAS VEGAS - UNLV pitcher Jacqueline Kerrigan tossed a three-hit shutout to lead the Rebels to a 1-0 victory over Hawai`i late Friday evening at Eller Media Stadium during the first day of the Rebel Classic.

Kerrigan (3-2) struck out five and scattered just three singles in posting the win over Hawaii (3-5).

Shortstop Amber Campbell was the Rebels' hero on the offensive side, driving in the game's only run with a single to left. After Bridget Byrne kicked off the inning by stretching a single to shallow left into a double and then taking third on a wild pitch, it was Campbell who delivered the crucial hit.

Hawai`i pitcher Paula Blanning (0-2) was tagged with the loss going five-plus innings. Shannon Tabion struckout four and allowed one hit in the final two frames. The Rainbow Wahine fell to 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Classic.

On Saturday, UH looks to bounce back with two games on the slate against Portland State and Wisconsin in the Classic.
