HONOLULU - Junior
Ryan Sceats and senior
Dalibor Ptak, the two remaining Hawai'i men's tennis players in the USTA Honolulu Futures tournament, were eliminated Wednesday, in the Main Draw first round.
In action at the Ala Moana tennis courts, Ptak suffered a 6-2, 6-2 setback to eighth seeded Alex Kuznetsov. Sceats dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to David Martin.
On Tuesday, Sceats and partner Malino Oda, a former Rainbow Warrior, had their upset bid of top-seeded Frederik Nielsen and Rasmus Norby fall short in the Main Draw first round. The duo won the first set 6-3 and took the second to a tie-break. But Nielsen and Norby ralled to win the set and closed out the match, 6-1, in the third.
Ptak teamed with Chris Lam and defeated Gregor Krusic and Mikael Maatta, 6-1, 7-5, also in first round action. The duo will meet the second-seeded team of Kuznetsov and Horia Tecau in the second round.
The Rainbow Warriors conclude the fall season with a match against nationally ranked Stanford, Nov. 23.
