KAPOLEI, Hawai'i - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine golf team finished the Kent Youel Invitational in 15th place after shooting a team-best 306 in the final round. UH, who hosted the 15-team tournament at the Kapolei Golf Course, finished with a 54-hole total of 947.
Sophomore Dale Gammie moved three spots up the leader board and ended the contest tied for 19th place after she shot a two-over 74 on the final 18 holes. Also competing for UH were; junior Tara Chappell (237, +21), sophomore Megan Stoddart (242, +26), freshman Xyra Suyetsugu (244, +28) and junior Allie Rowe (255, +39). UH golfers who competed as individuals were juniors Roslyn Folk (249, +33) and Kari Sur (256, +40).
UCLA was unrelenting through the third round as they shot 291 and finished with a 54-round total of 859, 19 strokes ahead of second place Arizona State. The Bruins were the only team to shoot under par (-5) for the tournament.
UCLA captured top individual honors as well, as Amie Cochran (70-70-72=212) edged teammates Susie Matthews (71-70-72=213) and Charlotte Mayorkas (69-70-75=214). Cochran won the tournament after shooting an even par 72 in round three and Mathews, who began the day in third place, moved into second after posting a par-72.
This tournament concludes the Rainbow Wahine's fall schedule. The team will next compete in the Bay Area Classic, Feb. 21-22, hosted by San Francisco.
