STANFORD, Calif. - Second-ranked Stanford proved its dominance with a 6-1 victory over the Hawai'i women's tennis team, Friday, at the Taube Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine's (1-2) only two losses this season have come against the Cardinal.
Freshman Kana Aikawa, a native of Saipan, earned the team's only victory, a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jessica Leck at No. 6 singles. In the teams' prior meeting in November at the Kapalua Resort on Maui, Aikawa posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Leck, for UH's only win.
The Cardinal got on the scoreboard by sweeping all three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. Stanford then swept five of the six matches, including Erin Burdette's 6-3, 6-0 victory over UH's Lauren Fitzgerald at the No. 1 court.
The Rainbow Wahine continue its road trip with a match against San Francisco, Saturday, at the Golden Gate Park.
