Hawaii Finishes Sixth at Ron Moore Classic

BRIGHTON, Colo.-- The University of Hawaii Rainbow men's golf team moved up three spots after a final round 294 to finish in a tie for sixth in the Ron Moore Classic hosted by the University of Denver. Hawaii finished the 12-team, 54-hole tournament with a total of 888.

Matt Kodama continued his solid play, finishing in a tie for eight-place on the individual leaderboard. The senior shot 3-under par in the final round to finish even par (216) for the tournament. Junior Manarii Gauthier who shot a 2-over par 146 in the first two rounds, finished in a tie for 24th place with a 5-over 221. Par for the 7067-yard Riverdale Dunes Golf Course is 72.

Also participating for the Warriors were freshman Geoffrey Stevens (224, 34th place) and Cody Wolfenbarger (228, T44th place) and junior Kellen-Floyd Asao (244, T68th place).

Colorado State cruised to the team title by 10 strokes with a two-day total of 850 (-14). The Rams Nolan Martin was the individual medallist, winning by three strokes over UTEP's Chris Baryla. Martin finished with a 12-under 204.

The Warriors next travel to Reno, Nev., to participate in the Ernest F. Lied Wolf Pack Invitational hosted by the University of Nevada, October 6 and 7.
