Kodama Tied for First After First Day of Tucker Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Senior Matthew Kodama is tied for first place at the William H. Tucker Invitational after shooting a 68 and 69 in the first two rounds, Friday, at The Championship Course. Kodama is tied with Texas Tech's William Haddrell heading into Saturday's final round.

Despite Kodama's strong performance, the Warriors still stand in 19th place with a two-round total of 608. Among the other Warriors were Kellen-Floyd Asao (80-75=155, T80), Cody Wolfenbarger (79-78=157, T91), James Beston (79-81=160, T102), and Geoffrey Stevens (79-81=160, T102).

Kodama, who has one career collegiate victory under his belt, starts his third and final round in the day's first tee-time at 7:30 a.m. MST. He is the only player in the field to shoot both rounds in the 60s. Kodama is also on place to break his career low 54-hole total of 214.

Last season, Kodama captured the UH/Turtle Bay Classic and posted four Top 20 finishes. He also led the team with a 73.25 stroke average.
