SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-- The University of Hawaii Warrior golf team found the Pasatiempo Golf Course a stern test as the squad finished in 18th place at the 56th Annual Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Warriors shot 38-over-par in Tuesday's final round to finish with a total of 955 (+115) in the 54-hole event. UH was unable to make up any ground after nearly doubling up its second round score (+19). James Beston was the top individual performer for the Warriors with a total of 228 (+18) to finish in a tie for 57th.

UCLA maintained its lead after the first day to capture the tournament. The Bruins fired a 15-over-par 855 to win by seven strokes over runner-up UC Irvine. The Bruin's Steve Conway carded a two-under par 208 to beat out Matt Hansen of Pacific by one stroke for the individual championship.

Next up for UH is the Ping Cougar Classic, hosted by BYU, April 25-26.
