STANFORD, Calif. - The Rainbow Wahine defeated No. 9 seed UC Santa Barbara, 7-4, in the final day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament. The win over the Gauchos gave Hawaii a seventh place finish in the tournament.
The Gauchos got on the board first, scoring a goal within the first two minutes of play. Hawaii fired back scoring a goal of their own before the end of the first quarter and held UC Santa Barbara scoreless in the second.
The Rainbow Wahine came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Gauchos 5-3. In the third quarter Chelsea Garner-Prohs scored two goals, including the goal that would put UH ahead for good. Hawaii added three more goals in the fourth, sealing the 7-4 victory.
Hawaii's Garner-Prohs and Beth Novick led all scorers with two goals each. The Rainbow Wahine end their season 6-8 in the MPSF, 12-14 overall.
