Rainbow Wahine Fall 6-1 to UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The Hawai‘i women’s tennis team concluded a three-game road trip through California with a 6-1 loss to No. 70 UC Irvine, Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine finished 1-2 on the road swing and dropped to 4-8 overall.

The Anteaters took an early 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. The team of Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor were victorious at No. 3 doubles, beating UC Irvine’s Hui Leow and Amy Tranckino, 8-1.

Led by Tiffany Chang’s 4-6, 6-2, (10-3) victory over Fitzgerald, the Anteaters took five of the six singles matches. The only Rainbow Wahine to win her match was Kimberly Curtis at the No. 6 spot, defeating Kristina Boss, 4-6, 6-3, (10-6).

Hawai‘i returns home to host Buffalo, Mar. 11 and Illinois State, Mar. 12.
