Rainbow Wahine Get Back on Winning Track

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Hawai'i women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory over UC Riverside, Friday, at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Courts. The Rainbow Wahine, who improved to 4-6, are currently on a three-match road swing through California.

Hawai'i got on the board first, winning the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots to take a 1-0 lead. The Rainbow Wahine then took four of six singles matches, including freshman Renata Camargo at the No. 5 position, who extended her personal win streak to five matches. Since entering the lineup Feb. 11, Camargo is 5-1 on the year playing mostly at the No. 5 spot.

Sophomore Lauren Fitzgerald posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory in her match against Michelle Beyronneau at No. 1 singles. The victory was Fitzgerald’s fourth victory in her last five matches. Sophomore Kimberly Curtis easily won her match at No. 6 singles for just her second victory in eight matches.

The Rainbow Wahine next take on Cal State Northridge, Saturday and will conclude its road trip at UC Irvine, Sunday.
