Rainbow Wahine Fall to Gauchos, 7-5

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Hawai`i women's water polo team dropped a 7-5 decision to UC Santa Barbara, Friday, at the Campus Pool. The eighth-ranked Rainbow Wahine fell to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.

Kristy Bagnall led the Rainbow Wahine with two goals. Beth Novick, Karin van Hoff and Tracy Anderson also scored for Hawaii, who led 3-2 entering the third quarter. The Gauchos then out-scored UH, 4-0 in the period to take a 6-3 advantage.

Katy Kunkel led all scorers with three goals.

The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Gaucho Invitational, Saturday and Sunday. UH opens the tournament against San Jose State.
