SALINAS, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's golf team finished in 13th place at the Spartan Invitational, finishing the tournament with a 54-hole total of 992. The Rainbow Wahine found the Corral de Tiera Country Club a stern test of golf, as they carded a final round of 337.
Junior Rene Krause led the way for the Wahine, as she carded a final round 84 to finish in a tie for 58th with a 240 total. Junior Bobbie Arakawa and freshman Tara Chappell were not far behind as they finished in 64th and 65th places respectively.
Pepperdine ran away with the team title, with an amazing 18-under-par 846 total. The Waves were led by Katherine Hull who torched the par 72, 5,938-yard layout with a 16-under-par total of 200, which also included a first round 63.
Hawai`i will tee it up next when they host the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, March 18-19 at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
