HONOLULU - After the first day of the sixth annual Rainbow Challenge Water Polo Invitational, four teams remain unbeaten including host University of Hawai'i. The Rainbow Wahine won both of its matches, a 16-2 rout of UC Santa Cruz and a 6-4 victory over UC San Diego. Long Beach State (2-0-1), Canada (2-0) and Australia (1-0-1) also remain undefeated heading into tomorrow's final day of competition.
In featured matches on Saturday, Australia and Canada meet at 10:20 a.m., and Canada and Long Beach State play in the tournament's final match at 6:30 p.m. Hawai`i faces Cal Baptist at 12:40 p.m. and New Zealand at 3:00 p.m.

Game #1 - Cal Baptist vs. UC San Diego
Meris Bantilan-Smith provided the game-winning goal, her fourth on the day, breaking a 5-5 tie in the third. The Tritons rallied from a 5-2 deficit with a pair of Bantilan-Smith goals and one by Samara Silverman. The Lancers pulled to within one on Cheryl Ogden's fourth goal with 1:34 remaining. Cal Baptist had one last chance to tie but their attempt sailed wide as time expired.

Canada scored a goal in each quarter in its 4-2 win over New Zealand. Sarah Theriault tied the game at 2 with 4:13 in the second period. Katie Little provided the game-winner with 1:37 remaining in the third. New Zealand scored both of its goals within the first four minutes of the match was held scoreless the rest of the way.

Megan Eldridge added another Cal Baptist goal with 2:26 left in the third but Anna Sieprath recorded her second goal of the match to put New Zealand ahead 4-2.

In a tightly contested match, Australia and Long Beach State played to a 6-all tie. The Beach scored three first quarter goals, including two by Angelica Garcia, to take an early 3-1 lead. But Australia responded with two goals in the second, one each by Amity Campbell and Melissa McDonald. With under a minute left in regulation, each team's goalkeeper came up with big saves to secure the tie.

UH built a 5-1 lead after the first half, then added a Karin van Hoff goal with 3:34 left in the fourth to hold on for the victory.
