HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (15-13, 1-1 Easter Tournament) fell to the Lewis-Clark State Warriors (21-4, 2-0) 3-2 in 10 innings in front of a crowd of 2,575 in the second day of the Rainbow Easter Tournament at the Les Murakami Stadium Wednesday.
Clary Carlsen (1-3) got the loss while Lewis-Clark State's Marc Kaiser (5-1) picked up the win.
Brian Finegan led the way for UH, going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Timothy Montgomery had another good game, going 1-for-2 with a run, while Isaac Omura had his 12-game hitting streak snapped.
The Rainbows jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Finegan brought in Montgomery on a ground out to the second baseman.
After avoiding a couple of threats in the second and sixth innings, the 'Bows finally let the Warriors through in the top of the seventh inning as LC State scored two runs to go up 2-1.
Hawai`i would come back to tie the game at two in the bottom of the eigth as Finegan would drive in Matthew Inouye. Lewis-Clark State would threaten again in the top of the ninth with runners on first and third with just one out. But Omura would make a great play to start a 4-U-4-3 double play to end the inning unscathed. The Rainbows, though, couldn't take advantage in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game to extra innings.
The Warriors would come up with a run in the top of the tenth on a two-out error that scored Jose Rodriguez to give Lewis-Clark State the 3-2 victory.
The Warriors will face Western Illinois in the 2:30 p.m. game tomorrow while the Rainbows face Air Force at 6:35 p.m.
