Warriors Edge Mustangs, 4-3

San Luis Obispo, Calif. –The University of Hawai`i men’s tennis team continued their winning ways in Southern California today with a win over the Cal Poly Mustangs, 4-3. The Warriors have now won four in a row and are 10-8 on the season.

On the doubles courts, UH captured wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts giving them the lead going into singles play. On the No. 2 court the UH pair of Jarrod Diepraam and Ryan Sceats improved their season win streak to four. Diepraam/Sceats defeated Travis Crawford/Garrett Leight, 8-4.

In singles play the Warriors saw victory on the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 courts. On the No. 5 court Francisco Brignole split sets with Cal Poly’s Adrian Mardyks before winning the third set, 6-1 for a solid victory. Brignole is undefeated on the Warriors current road trip. Also undefeated on this trip is Malino Oda. Oda beat out Davey Jones on the No. 2 court, 7-6, 6-3 to improve his season record to 8-8.

The Warriors face UC Santa Barbara tomorrow before they go into the Anteater Classic at UC Irvine later this week.
