Rainbow Wahine Blank Lewis & Clark

HONOLULU –The University of Hawai`i women’s tennis team continued their winning ways today after sweeping the Pioneers of Lewis and Clark, 7-0 at the UH tennis complex. The Rainbow Wahine are now 9-10 on the season.

Hawai`i took an early lead winning all three doubles matches to clinch the first point of the day. On the No. 1 court Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor captured their twelfth win of the season over Lewis and Clark’s Sara Schipani and Laura Willner, 8-1. Fitzgerald and Mainor have won 10 of their last 11 matches.

In singles play the Rainbow Wahine did not let up on Lewis & Clark, giving up just 12 games in six matches. On the No. 6 court Freshman Beverly Thomas beat out Emily Krafft, 6-1, 6-3 in her second match of the season.

Senior Stacy Hakikawa earned her second win this weekend beating out Carly Groszhans, 6-0, 6-2. Hakikawa defeated Coral Silverstone of San Jose State yesterday.

The Rainbow Wahine next travel to Nevada, April 11 for their third WAC match of the season.
