Waipio, HI –The University of Hawai`i women’s tennis team secured a solid 5-2 victory against the University of Wyoming, Wednesday at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine improved their record to 7-9 on the season.

In doubles play UH captured wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. The two wins gave the Rainbow Wahine a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches. On the No. 2 doubles court, the doubles team of Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor improved their season win streak to eight. Fitzgerald and Mainor, who are undefeated at the No. 2 spot, beat Wyoming’s Kati Gyulai and Patricia Chien, 8-5.

Hawai`i lost just two matches in singles play at the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. On the No. 5 court Renata Camargo posted her eighth win on the season against Megan Williams.

On the No. 1 court Lauren Fitzgerald beat out Wyoming’s top player, Patricia Chien, 6-1, 6-2. Fitzgerald’s win coupled with Rainbow Wahine victories on the No. 4-6 courts gave the women a solid 5-2 victory against the Wyoming Cowgirls.

The Wahine face the Sacramento State Hornets, Thursday (3/20) 3pm at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex.
