Waipio, HI –The University of Hawai`i women’s tennis team narrowly avoided a shut out, Thursday against the Sacramento State Hornets, 6-1. The Rainbow Wahine are now 7-10 on the season.
The Hornets captured the first point of the day after winning all three doubles matches. On the No. 2 court the Sacramento team of Amanda Sanches and Roberta Fessenko handed Lauren Fitzgerald and Paige Mainor their first loss in nine matches.
In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine played tough but were unable to defeat Sacramento State. On the No. 2 court Sacramento’s Roberta Fessenko forfeited the match after two games, handing the match and point to Wahine Paige Mainor.
The Rainbow Wahine next face WAC opponents San Jose State, at 10am Saturday, March 22 at the Central Oahu Tennis Complex.
