No. 40 Cougars Sweep Rainbow Wahine

Lewiston, Idaho - In their first match on a seven day road trip the Rainbow Wahine lost 7-0 to No. 40 Washington State University women's tennis team. WSU took all 6 singles matches and 2 out of 3 doubles.

On the singles side, the Cougars dominated the Rainbow Wahine in straight sets during all 6 matches. Lauren Fitzgerald (UH) posted the strongest showing (6-4, 7-6) but Lorena Arias (WSU) managed a win for the Cougars.

Hawai`i fared a little better during doubles play. Kravets and Fukushima (UH) defeated Sallai and Stefanchuk (WSU), 8-6, to post the only victory of the match for the Wahine. Despite fine performances by Kravets and Fukushima, the victory was not enough for Hawai`i to capture doubles points.

Next the Rainbow Wahine travel to Moscow, Idaho to face the Vandals (February 8).
