VALLEJO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's golf team finished in 10th place at the LUNA Bay Area Classic earlier today. The Wahine finished the 36-hole tournament with a 689 two-day total.
The Hiddenbrooke Country Club proved to be a stern test for the Wahine, as each player was over par on the day. Senior Bobbie Arakawa led the team with a 164 total that placed her in a tie for 23rd. Freshman Tara Chappell chipped in with a final round 80 that put her into a tie for 25th, one stroke back of Arakawa.
Host California took the team title with a 681 total, seven shots clear of runner-up Washington. The Bears were led by Sarah Huarte who won the individual title with an even-par total of 144. Huarte was the only golfer to have two rounds of par or better.
The Wahine next tee it up at the Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif., March 4-5.
