Rainbow Wahine Sweep Lions in Doubleheader

LOS ANGELES - The University of Hawai`i swept a pair of non-conference games at Loyola Marymount today, winning 4-1 and 2-0 at the LMU Softball Field.

UH's Melissa Coogan tossed back-to-back complete games to raise her record to 6-2 on the year.

Hawai`i improves to 8-6 overall while LMU falls to 3-10.

In game one, Stacey Porter continues swinging a hot bat going 2-for-4 with a run scored. With UH trailing 1-0 on Danielle Kaminaka's homer, Porter doubled to lead off the fourth and scored on Trisha Ramos' single. Both Ramos and Denise Dahlberg would score on Justina Kahaku's single to right. The final run of the inning was unearned as Hannah Butler, who reached on an error, scored on Tracie Uchima's single down the right field line.

In game two, UH scored its only runs in the top of the first. Butler singled to the pitcher, Uchima walked, then April Crowell doubled to drive home Butler. Porter then singled home Uchima to cap the scoring.

Coogan went allowed five hits and had two strikeouts in the first game, while spacing four hits and recording two punchouts in the second one.

Hawai`i completes its road trip Thursday with a doubleheader at UC Riverside beginning at 1 p.m. PST.
