WAHIAWA, Oahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team finished their day at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in a tie for 14th after a disappointing opening round of 296.
Minor rain showered the Leilehua Golf Course during the middle part of the round, but had no significant bearing on the play of the course. Sophomore Kellen-Floyd Asao shot a 74 to put him in a tie for 50th.
Arizona took the team lead with a combined score of 280, one shot better than Southern Methodist. San Diego State's Mark Warman took the early lead in the individual competition, carding a 67 for a slim one shot lead over five other golfers.
The second round in the 54-hole tournament will be conducted tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
