UNLV Ends UH Win Streak

LAS VEGAS - Hawai`i dropped a 5-2 decision tonight at UNLV ending the Rainbow Wahine's modest 3-game winning streak at Eller Media Stadium.

The Rebels got to UH's Shannon Tabion (2-4) for four runs in the third and another in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. Three of the runs surrendered by Tabion were unearned from two costly UH errors. Tabion struck out six and walked one allowing 10 hits in the loss.

UNLV's Jackie Kerrigan (6-3) allowed four hits and no runs through five innings before the UH bats came alive.

In the top of the sixth inning, designated player April Crowell launched her team-leading fifth home run deep to right field to break up the shutout. UH added the other run with a single by Stacey Porter and a double by Trisha Ramos.

Hawai`i falls to 6-6 on the year and UNLV improves to 6-10.

Hawai`i heads to California tomorrow for two doubleheaders at Loyola Marymount on Feb. 19 (1 p.m.) and at UC Riverside on Feb. 20 (1 p.m.).
