WAIKOLOA, Hawai‘i - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team finished the second round of the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in a tie for 17th with a 578 total, despite putting together a five-under-par round of 283.
The Warrior effort was led by sophomore Kellen-Floyd Asao, who improved on his opening round by 10-strokes with a four-under-par 68. Asao moved into a tie for 70th with a 146 total. Junior Eric Chang leads the team with a 142 total that placed him in a tie for 28th, after a round of 69. Junior Matt Kodama was the third Warrior who carded a sub-par round, as he carded a 71 to move him into a tie for 42nd.
UCLA took the team lead after a 271 second round gave the Bruins a 554 total. Adam Meyer of TCU moved into the individual lead after a round of 68 gave him a 135 total, just one stroke better than six other golfers. The final round will commence at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
