SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Hawai‘i men’s tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped, Tuesday, by Santa Clara, 5-2, at the SCU Tennis Complex. The Warriors (4-5) dropped four singles matches and all three doubles contests.
Highlighting the effort was victories by Reginaldo Moralejo and Ryan Sceats at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Moralejo improved to 6-1 on the year, including a perfect 5-0 mark in the No. 4 position, with a 6-4, 6-7 (4), (11-9) victory over Taylor Bedilion. Newcomer Ryan Sceats posted his fourth victory in five matches after a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Michael Bruggemann.
The Broncos got the on the scoreboard first by sweeping all three doubles matches, including a thrilling 9-8 victory in the No. 3 spot by Ben Hidalgo and Francisco Zepponi over Moralejo and Francisco Brignole.
The Warriors continue its eight-match road trip, Wednesday, against No. 15 Pepperdine.
