Rainbow Wahine Finish 13th at Kent Youel

KAPOLEI -The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine golf team finished play at the Kent Youel Invitational tied for 12th place along side Colorado. The Wahine put together a 311 round three to finish with 935 at the 5900-yard Kapolei Golf Course.

UH was led by freshman golfer Sara Odelius who built on her first and second round scores of 74 and 76, respectively, by posting a 77 in round three. Odelius (+11) finished the invitational in an eight-way tie for 13th. Freshman Dale Gammie wasn't far behind with 79 in round three to bring her total to 230 (+14) which tied her for 27th place. Also scoring for the Rainbow Wahine were freshman Megan Stoddart (83-77-77=237, +21), sophomore Brooke Jackson (83-80-78-241, +25), and sophomore Kari Sur (90-84-86=260, +44). Sophomore Tara Chappell was in the Top 10 after two rounds, but was disqualified due to a technical error.

Oklahoma continued their solid play by posting a 293 round three and a three-day total of 889 to capture the team championship by two strokes over Washington. Washington's Paige McKenzie took the individual title with a 1-under par round three to finish with 214. Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum followed close behind with 215 to take 2nd place. Par for the course was 72.

The Rainbow Wahine will be in action again at the Las Vegas Founder's Women Intercollegiate, Nov. 10-12 in Nevada, hosted by UNLV.
