Warriors End Fall Preview Tour With a Win on Molokai

Kaunakakai, Molokai -The University of Hawai`I men's volleyball team made it an even 4-0 against the George Mason Patriots, Saturday night with a 38-36, 30-22, 30-22 win to end the four-island Fall Preview Tour.

Before an estimated crowd of 1500 Molokai fans the Warriors struggled in game one as George Mason took an early lead and almost the game. But with their eye on a 4-0 record for the tour, the squad regrouped and pulled out a 38-36 victory.

Head coach Mike Wilton remarked, "The first game was close. We had to come from behind, which wasn't a bad thing for our team. George Mason came on real strong and we had to battle back. They got better and it was tough."

By games two and three the Warriors had their bearings back and easily won, 30-22, 30-22. Thanks to quick thinking and great shots by sophomore outside hitter Matt Bender and freshman middle blocker Dio Dante the Warriors were able to keep the Patriots from claiming a victory on Molokai.

The Warriors kick off their season on January 8 at the 10th Annual Outrigger Invitational against Penn State.
