Warriors Make Short Work of George Mason

Hilo, HI --The Warrior volleyball team needed just one hour to secure another victory from the George Mason Patriots, Thursday night at the Hilo Civic Center. Before a Big Island crowd of 1000 Hawai`i beat out the Patriots 30-15, 30-20, 30-22 giving them a 2-0 lead in the four-island Fall Preview Tour.

Head coach Mike Wilton gave all 12 players on the trip a chance to play and they made the most of their opportunity. "In game one I don't think anyone missed a serve. We put the pressure on at the start of the game and didn't let up. Game two was the same." said Wilton.

In game three the Patriots came on strong and the Warriors faltered but to no avail. Hawai`i rallied back for the game win, giving them a decisive victory. When asked which player stood out as key to this victory, Wilton replied, "Everybody played very well. It's hard to single out one player who performed best. Everyone did a great job tonight."

Tomorrow the Warriors will attempt to go 3-0 in the tour as they face the Patriots at the Maui War Memorial Gym in Wailuku at 7:00pm.
