HENDERSON, Nevada-The University of Hawai`i women's golf team finished the first round in 9th place with a team score of 310 at the Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV.

The Rainbow Wahine were led by Sara Odelius, who finished the first day of action tied for 12th on the leaderboard with a 2-over 74. She is six strokes behind tournament leader Trisha Quick (-4, 68) of Colorado State. Also competing for UH are Rene Krause (78, T36 place), Dale Gammie (79, T45), Megan Stoddart (79, T45) and Tara Chappell (80, T53).

New Mexico leads a field of 15 teams with an even par 288, five strokes ahead of second place Oklahoma. Round two of the 54-hole tournament at the Anthem Country Club (Par 72--6,194 Yards) continues tomorrow in at 8 a.m. PST.
