LAS CRUCES, New Mexico- Powered by the performance of freshman
Sara Odelius, the University of Hawai`i women's golf team finished the first round in 8th place with a team score of 307 at the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State.
Odelius, a native of Sweden, carded a one-under 71, to take sole possession of 2nd place on the individual leaderboard. Fellow freshman Dale Gammie is in a tie for 20th place after shooting a 76 for the day. Freshman Megan Stoddart is not far behind, carding a 78 to finish the day in the 36th spot. Also competing for Hawai`i are sophomore Brooke Jackson (82) and senior Megan McGuinness (87)
Florida State and Oklahoma are in a tie for first place with a score of 293, seven strokes ahead in the field of 16 teams. Florida State's Allison Curdt is the individual leader with a first round score of 70 after shooting an impressive 34 in the back nine. Par is 72 for 6,319-yard New Mexico State Golf Course.
Round two starts tomorrow in Las Cruces at 7:44 a.m MST.
