UH Focuses on WAC Championships in Two Weeks at SJSU after Sprint Invite Today

KANEOHE, Oahu - The University of Hawai`i women's cross country team completed its regular season this morning hosting the UH Cross Country Sprint Invitational at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course. The weather was ideal this morning with temperatures in the 80s and no wind.

The event was non-scored meet with the women running a 3K course and the men competing on a 5K run.

Only three teams competed this morning with Chaminade, Hawai`i Pacific, and UH.

It was the last tune-up for the Rainbow Wahine who head to San Jose State in two weeks to battle in the Western Athletic Conference Championships.

HPU's Nina Chistensen had the best time amond the women at 10 minutes and 30 seconds.

UH bunched up runners near the top taking places three through 10. Leading the pack for UH was Dana Buchanan followed closely by Victoria Chang. UH's Kelly Young, Monica Su, Heidi Frank, and Jennifer Bell were all grouped together within 10 seconds of one another.

UH had 13 runners participating today, as one of its top freshman, Chantelle Laan sitting out. The men's race had only HPU and Chaminade running as HPU took the top three spots with William Ngetich taking top honors with a time of 15 minutes and 58 seconds in the 5K.
