The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished seventh at the Pioneer Highlands Ranch Intercollegiate with a 659 total. The Rainbow Wahine improved on their first round score by five strokes, but were unable to move up in the field.
Freshman Tara Chappell followed up her first round 79 with a 74, giving her a 153 total. Chappell finished in a tie for 13th in only her second collegiate event. Junior Megan McGuinness placed 35th in the 36-hole event with a 166 total.
Iowa State was the only team to shoot a higher final round than first round score, but still managed to hold on to the lead, finishing with a 595 total after rounds of 295 and 300. Leanne Owens led the Cyclones' effort by capturing medallist honors with a one-under-par 143 total.
The Rainbow Wahine will next play October 7-8 at the Heather Farr Memorial.
