No. 2 Hawai`i Sweeps Through St. Mary's to Move to 10-0

HONOLULU -- The No. 2 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine (10-0) defeated the St. Mary's Gaels (3-5) 30-17, 30-24 and 30-17 in front of a crowd of 6,474 at the Stan Sheriff Center Saturday.

Hawai`i was again led by Kim Willoughby and Lily Kahumoku, who had 19 and 16 kills, respectively. Freshman Susie Boogaard had her big breakout match with nine kills while hitting .615. Hedder Ilustre added a solid match with a team-high 10 digs while setting a personal career-high with three aces.

Hawai`i now improves to 10-0 on the year before heading into conference play next weekend.

The Gaels were led by Lindsey Bogoson and Jill Parmele. Bogoson had nine kills and six digs while Parmele added eight kills and six digs. Kaui Salzman led all players with 11 digs in the backrow.

Hawai`i will next face Rice on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. That will start a string of three straight weeks where the Rainbow Wahine play just one match a week.
