Hawai`i Tied for Fourth after Day One of Team Race Sailing Nationals

HONOLULU—The 7th-ranked University of Hawai`i coed sailing team finished with a 3-2 record after day one of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) North American Team Race Championship today at Keehi Lagoon. Hawai`i is tied with Charleston for fourth place. Harvard and defending champion Georgetown are tied for first at 5-0, and Tufts is in third at 4-1. Thirty of 66 races were completed.

Women’s All-American Molly O’Bryan, All-American Crew Sarah Hitchcock, freshman standout Bryan Lake, Joey Pasqualli, Lindsay Peters, Ann Feeley-Summerl and Adam Corpuz-Lahne sailed for the Rainbows, who won against Old Dominion, UC Santa Barbara and Wisconsin. Hawai`i lost to Charleston and Georgetown.

After a complete round-robin, the top four schools will move on to a championship round.

The competition continues tomorrow and concludes on Tuesday. Racing begins at 9:45 a.m. on both days.
