Hawai`i Sitting in Third in Women’s Sailing Nationals

HONOLULU—The 9th-ranked University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine sailing team slipped to third place after the second day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) North American Championships in the waters of Keehi Lagoon. Second-ranked Old Dominion leads the competition with 105 points, while St. Mary’s (Md) is in second place with 142, heading into the final day of sailing.

The defending national champion Rainbow Wahine, who stood in second after the first day of competition, are 41 points off the pace with a total of 146 with 14 of 18 races completed.

Women’s All-American Molly O’Bryan and All-American crew Sarah Hitchcock finished day two with 64 points in the A division. Renee DeCurtis, Melody Torres, Jennifer Warnock and Lindsay Peters enter the final day of competition with 82 points in the B division.

The competition concludes tomorrow with each division sailing in four final races. Races will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 1 p.m.
