PORTLAND, ORE. - The University of Hawai`i softball team split its Western Athletic Conference doubleheader today at Portland State for the second-straight day.

In the first game, PSU's Morgan Seibert blanked the Rainbow Wahine, 3-0, on a four-hitter. She struckout five and walked four in the complete-game effort.

UH's Sheri Oronoz (17-12) got her first start on the trip and gave up all three runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking one. Melissa Coogan came out of the bullpen and struckout one over the final two-thirds of an inning.

PSU got on the board first in the fourth inning on the two-run homer by Annie Peccia. PSU added another run in the fifth on a throwing error by the UH left fielder.

In the nightcap, UH's Shannon Tabion (5-3) went the distance beating PSU's Nichole Ivie (3-6). Tabion scattered five hits while striking out two and walking three.

The UH offense was supplied by third baseman Trisha Ramos who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Ramos had a three-run homer in the fifth that capped the UH scoring. First baseman Stacey Porter also added a solo shot to lead off the fourth inning, her 14th of the season.

UH now heads to Eugene, Ore., for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday, April 30, before returning to the islands.
