Coed Sailing Team Wins District Championship, Qualifies for Nationals

HONOLULU—The 12th-ranked University of Hawai`i coed sailing team won the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association (PCIYRA) Dinghy District Championship this afternoon at Keehi Lagoon. Hawai`i and second place finisher, ninth-ranked Stanford, qualify for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA)/Gill Dinghy North American Championship.

Bryan Lake, Adam Corpuz-Lahne, Jennifer Warnock, Lindsay Peters, Molly O’Bryan, Steve Brown, Adrian Duckrow, Sarah Hitchcock, Melody Torres, Matt Stine, Sarah Reed, Will Edwards, John Sharkey, Ann Feeley-Summerl and Jacob Richter sailed for Hawai`i.

Hawai`i will host all three ICSA North American Championships, May 29-June 7, at Keehi Lagoon. The Rainbow Wahine look to defend their women’s North American championship, while the coed team tries to improve on last year’s finishes in the team and Dinghy championships, sixth and seventh, respectively.
