Coed Sailing Qualifies for Team Race North American Championships

HONOLULU—The 12th ranked University of Hawai`i coed sailing team finished second today in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association (PCIYRA) Team Race District Championship at Keehi Lagoon. Hawai`i and regatta winner UC Santa Barbara qualify for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Team Racing North American Championship.

All-American Molly O’Bryan, All-American Crew Sarah Hitchcock, Bryan Lake, Jennifer Warnock, Joey Pasquali, Lindsay Peters and Steve Brown sailed for Hawai`i who finished with an 8-2 record in the round-robin regatta. UC Santa Barbara finished at 9-1.

The PCIYRA District Championships continue tomorrow and Sunday at Keehi Lagoon with the dinghy championship. Hawai`i will try to qualify for the ICSA/Gill Dinghy North American Championship.

Hawai`i hosts all three spring ICSA North American Championships May 29-June 7 at Keehi Lagoon. The 11th ranked Rainbow Wahine have already qualified for the Women’s North American Championships.
