JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - The University of Hawai‘i men’s golf team finished in 13th place at the Oregon Duck Invitational, March 26. The Warriors shot a final round 292 to finish with an 897 total.
Hawai‘i was led by sophomore Matt Kodama, who bounced back from a disappointing second round with a 71 on the last day. Kodama’s 222 total put him in a tie for 41st. Senior Norman-Ganin Asao also had a good final round, shooting an even-par round of 72 to close with a 224 total in 51st. Junior Jaime Matsumura was three back of Asao, in a tie for 58th.
Oregon took advantage of hosting their own tournament, taking the team title by one shot over Washington State, with an 849 total. The Cougars’ charge was led by Jon Reehoorn, who won the individual title after a final round 67 gave him a 206 total.
Hawai‘i will next play April 8, at the Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State.
