Sheri Oronoz battled and Rainbow Wahine shortstop
Kate Judd led the offense as UH held off Hofstra, 5-3, to finish off the round-robin round and secure the No. 3 seed in tomorrow's Chevron Invitational final day.
Oronoz went the distance for the victory scattering nine hits and striking out three and walking one to push her record to 13-7 on the season. She blanked The Pride over the first six innings before being touched up for three in the seventh.
Judd, on the other hand, went just 1-for-3 but plated three runs.
UH got on the board in the third when Jennifer Tandarich reached on an error, moved to second on Natalie Gonzales' single to left, both runners moved up on Stacie Hirano's ground out, before Judd lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Tandarich.
Then in the sixth, April Crowell singled to center after one out. She was lifted for pinch-runner Justina Kahaku. Kahaku then scored on a freaky place when third baseman Trisha Ramos sharply singled to center, but the ball was deflected into right center allowing Ramos to advance home on the three-base error to make it 3-0.
UH added two more runs in the seventh as Judd doubled home both Hirano and Gonzales, who both reached on fielder's choices.
Hawai`i improves to 21-14 on the year while Hofstra fell to 7-16.
