HONOLULU – The 9th-ranked University of Hawai`i women’s water polo team defeated unranked Cal State Northridge, 11-4, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match, March 16, at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Hawai`i (8-7, 2-4 MPSF) took a 3-2 lead in the first period and held Matadors (2-8, 0-4 MPSF) scoreless in the second and third.
Northridge could not match Hawai`i’s firepower and were outshot 31-13 in the match. Melissa Hall for the Matadors and Traci Trochinski of the Rainbow Wahine led their teams in scoring with three goals.
The Rainbow Wahine continue MPSF play March 22, against Long Beach State on March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
