Warriors in 17th After Day One of UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate

Day One Results

KAHUKU, Oahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team sits in 17th place at the end of play on day one of the UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate. The Warriors finished the day with a 619 total.

Hawai'i found the Palmer Course tough going, as the team recorded rounds of 308 and 311. The Warriors were led by sophomore Kellen-Floyd Asao's 153 total, which put him in a tie for 49th. Junior Manarii Gauthier was just one-shot back in a tie for 56th.

UNLV is on the top of the leaderboard after rounds of 288 and 280 gave them a total of 568, five shots better than Tennessee. The Volunteers' David Skinns gave himself a three-shot edge over the rest of the field thanks to an opening 65 that put him on the way to a 138 total.

The final round continues Tuesday, with an 8:00 a.m. HST shotgun start.
