TERRE HAUTE, IND. - University of Hawai`i cross country runner Victoria Chang finished 177th at the 2002 NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Championship this morning at the Wabash Family Sports Center.
Chang completed the 6000-meter course in 21 minutes and 54.7 seconds.
North Carolina's Shalane Flanagan took top honors coming in first with a time of 19 minutes and 36.0 seconds.
Hawai`i did not accumulate a team score with only Chang participating; however, Brigham Young University won the National Title with 85 points while Stanford finished second with 113, followed by Notre Dame (170), Georgetown (214), and Colorado (220) to round out the Top 5.
Chang was Hawai`i's second NCAA Qualifier in the last two seasons. She was the top Rainbow Wahine runner in every race this season.
It was Chang's second appearance in the NCAA Championships. She ran at the NCAA's as a freshman for Stanford placing 217th overall with a time of 23 minutes and 14.5 seconds on Nov. 20, 2000.
