HENDERSON, Nev. - The University of Hawai`i women's golf team struggled on the final day of the Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown, as they slipped into 13th place with a 960 three round total.
Hawai`i found the Anthem Country Club to be a stern test, as they closed with a final round of 328. However, the team can walk away from the tournament knowing they are on the right track as they close the fall season. The Rainbow Wahine played some of their best golf of the year in the second round, where they carded a season-best 303. Senior Laura DuLucia provided the leadership for Hawai`i, as she finished in a tie for 36th with a 237 total.
New Mexico swept the team and individual titles, as Kristi Larsen's win in a three-way playoff provided the spark for the Lobos' 880 winning total. Larsen birdied the first playoff hole to out-duel Texas A&M's Nicole Melton and UNLV's Sunny Oh. All three players finished regulation with one-under-par 215 totals.
