HENDERSON, Nev. - The University of Hawai`i women's golf team finished the first day of the Las Vegas Founders Women's Showdown in 12th place with a 329 first round score.

The Rainbow Wahine were led by senior Laura DuLucia and junior Rene Krause, who both carded opening rounds of 81 in the three-day event. Both players were in a logjam of golfers tied for 40th place.

Host UNLV took advantage of their home course knowledge, as they took the early lead with a round of 303. Brigham Young's Margaret Gibby has the individual lead after a round of 73.

The Showdown will continue at the Anthem Country Club tomorrow, Nov. 12.
