BROOMFIELD, Colo. - The University of Hawai`i women's golf team made a big move in the final round of the Heather Farr Memorial Tournament, jumping up four spots to finish 12th. A final round of 313 gave the Rainbow Wahine a 643 36-hole total.
Senior Bobbie Arakawa's career-best round of 74 led Hawai'i's charge. Arakawa finished the tournament tied for 43rd. Freshman Tara Chappell capped her tournament with a 76 to pace Hawai`i overall with a 157 total and a tie for 32nd. Senior Laura DuLucia also contributed significantly with a 160 total that put her in the group tied at 43rd with Arakawa.
Denver nabbed the team title by a single stroke over Nevada, finishing with a 603 total after a final round of 296. Idaho's Nicole Keller defeated host Colorado's Erin Kerr in a playoff to take individual honors. Both golfers finished regulation play with a 144 total after shooting identical rounds of 73-71.
Hawai`i will tee it up next when they host the Rainbow Wahine Fall Classic at the Kapolei Golf Club, Oct. 29-30.
